GM Issues Urgent “Do Not Drive” Recall for 2026 Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban & More – What Spring, TX Drivers Need to Know

If you own a new 2026 GM full-size truck or SUV, stop driving it immediately. General Motors has issued a rare “Do Not Drive” order affecting a small number of vehicles due to a serious transfer case defect that can cause sudden wheel lock-up.

What’s the Problem with GM’s Latest Recall?

The issue involves certain 4WD/AWD transfer cases manufactured without a critical oil pickup tube. Without proper lubrication, internal bearings can fail, causing grinding noises or sudden lock-up of the front or rear axles while driving. This significantly increases the risk of a crash.

GM is acting quickly after a reported incident. No crashes or injuries have been reported yet, but they are treating this very seriously.
